CAT SOUP (NEKOJIRU-SO)
If anyone of you was ever interested with non-commercial animated movies with twisted story lines that somehow you must be thinking, “It needs a very artistic mind to understand this story!”, then NEKOJIRU-SO is right for you. An award-winning short animation directed by Tatsuo Sato, the whole story almost feels dream-like with silent scripts and only character actions and expressions to let the viewers understand what is going on.

Here’s a link for on the director’s profile and the reasons for it to win the Silver Award for New York Expo of Short Film (source from www.imdb.com).

Had bought Wacom recently and manage to test it out by doing a poster for a society. They want it in grayscale and red. Here’s the image. The image is rejected though. *sob!*

MojiKan.com!!!

August 3, 2007 at 5:14 pm | In 01 + Tea & Toast | 2 Comments

I have switched job recently to another company called MOR(F) Dynamics. An Australian-based company who strive for “Fusing Grammer with Geometry”. Well, they are the designers for Artificial Intelligence for commercial applications.

At the moment, we are handling a project, which is extremely cool, MojiKan.com! A project of Intelligent Messenger that comes with virtual pets to chat with you, if you are not already chatting with your friends, online. These pets are built with AI shell to capture and learn our human language, analyse their owner and will eventually become good or bad depending on their owner. “Like father, like son.”

The messenger supports conversation with other IM like Yahoo!, MSN, GTalk and AOL. Frankly speaking, it is still a bit bugy at the moment but as far as I am concern, the IM works just like an IM.

Also around is the website for it, of course, which is proudly designed by me! Click here to visit MojiKan.com! This site, aside from functioning as the marketing purposes of the project, also works like any other online community sites like Friendsters or MySpace. You can also buy stuff here to pamper your pets to love you more using the MojiKan currency, MK$.

To know more of this cool project, do visit the site. We are also going to have launch this August 11th, 2007 at The Street in The Curve. Come and join us!

The most famous headline in advertising history

May 11, 2007 at 1:37 am | In 01 + Tea & Toast | No Comments

I received this short email the other day. Short and simple but big impact. Here’s what was written:

“At 60 miles an hour the loudest noise in this Rolls-Royce comes from the electric clock.” - 1958

Source: Rolls-Royce print ad, created by David Ogilvy
Note: This is sometimes referred to as the most famous headline in advertising history.

David MacKenzie Ogilvy (June 23, 1911–July 21, 1999), was a notable advertising executive. He has often been called “The Father of Advertising.” In 1962, Time called him “the most sought-after wizard in today’s advertising industry.” He was known for a career of expanding the bounds of both creativity and morality.

Sunday - And I can’t watch Pirates of the Carribean 2… But I discovered Aaron Noble

August 6, 2006 at 10:37 am | In 01 + Tea & Toast | No Comments

Today is Sunday and I am needed to be at the office. Hmmm… What a luck! And my sis and her boyfriend should have gone to watch the movie. What the hell…

I was around Amcorp Mall today and was purposely there to check out some mags. I bought Beautiful/Decay : Issue N. Found out about this guy called Aaron Noble who applies the technique of US superheroes comic sketches and drawing styles into his work, incorporates them in such an abstract way that you might think you are looking at something but it’s not.

Don’t get it? Go here. Cool stuff.

Orang Utan in Melaka!!!

July 18, 2006 at 8:15 am | In 01 + Tea & Toast | No Comments

Been to Melaka with D’Jungle People last weekend (Friday night till Sunday morn). Was working but it would have felt like holiday too! :)

I was walking around at Jonker Street at that time and found out this cool place called Orang Utan. Talking to the salesperson, I got to know that they have another 2 more shops elsewhere nearby but only this 1 sells T-shirts.

It was owned by an artist named Charles Cham. A local born in Melaka but based at oversea. Charles started off as editorial artist for few years in local scene and went to France after that to paint. He had exhibited in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali, Australia, France, UK, Switzerland and Portugal. Now, aside from Melaka, he is based in Budapest.

His art tends to be more on tribal Picasso kinda art rather than any typical scenery of beach, coconut trees… which is why I like it and bought 1 of the T-shirts for RM30. By saying tribal Picasso, you might find in his art where the leg of a figure is bigger than the other.
In the shop itself, parked an classic red Morris, which is being sold for €1000! I love it so much but can’t have it so I took a photo of it instead. Haha…

A Simple Poster of a Vector Image of a Female Looking at a Cube

July 7, 2006 at 9:44 am | In 01 + Tea & Toast | No Comments

Just done and printed a design that I tried to do for the first time. It’s just a simple poster of a vector image of a female looking at a cube. Not exactly superb but I hope it is not entirely bad for my first try. :)

I had it printed in 3; 1 for myself (definitely!), another for the gallery owner of Galleriiizu for its celebration of “7|7 Opportunities” (check below), which was the purpose of why I created the design in the first place, and finally another for my fellow friend.

Hopefully, they’ll like it! And when possible, i’ll upload it in the “Typographical Touch” page. It’ll be in small thumbnail though. To see the actual design, email me at tendoujir@gmail.com. Hehe…
